Report on planting Red Sandalwood Tree

 NAVAJYOTHI COLLEGE OF TEACHER EDUCATION FOR WOMEN, OLARIKKARA



In relation to Sustainable Development Goal 12- Responsible Consumption and Production, the Nature Club of Navajyothi college of Teacher Education for Women, Olarikkara  organized an event for planting endangered species under the leadership of club coordinator Sri. Renjith sir. On the 13th of June 2024, the Nature Club, combined with the students of Holy Family School, planted red sandalwood trees in the college garden, giving  the students a message of protecting and planting endangered species.

REPORT 


  On 05th june2024 Wednesday Navajyothi College of Teacher Education For Women Olarikkara, conducted the morning programme  by Nature  Club under the guidance of our principal Sister Dr. Gigi Paul and the club coordinator Sri. Ranjith Sir. The program was conducted by the first year student teachers in the multipurpose hall from 9:30 a.m. 




   The host of the program was Mrs.Megha Mohan of physical science option. The prayer was sung by Ms. Alina Raphy of Physical Science option. The welcome speech was given by Sr Anjanna of English option. 


Then an awareness class was conducted by Mrs. Simi .K.Simon on the topic the importance of biogas plan in daily life. Ms. Vyshna Suresh of physical science option gave the vote of thanks. The morning assembly was dispersed after the National Anthem by 9:50 am.

Navajyothi College of Teacher Education for Women, Olarikkara, is actively engaged in promoting sustainable development goals within our campus. As part of our commitment to Sustainable Development Goal 15 – Life on Earth, a project was initiated to cultivate awareness and conservation efforts among students. On August , nine Coturnix were introduced from Mannuthy Veterinary College into the college campus. This initiative aims to enhance biodiversity within the campus and also to offer educational opportunities to individuals involved in the conservation and development of forested areas, enabling them to understand the dynamics of these ecosystems and contribute to their protection.Navajyothi College is proud to contribute the global efforts towards achieving Sustainable Development Goal 15, and we are committed to enhance responsibility among students and also to promote sustainable use of terrestrial ecosystem.

Report on mini aquaponics

 REPORT ON MINI AQUAPONICS



On January 15, 2024, Navajyothi College Olarikara implemented a mini aquaponics system with the aim of fostering aesthetic and eco-friendly values while aligning with Sustainable Development Goal 14: Life Below Water. This initiative integrates aquaculture and hydroponics, housing 50 Tilapia fish (Oreochromis aureusin ) a symbiotic environment with various leafy greens and herbs grown hydroponically. The system not only serves as an educational tool, enhancing understanding of ecological concepts among students and faculty, but also adds aesthetic value to the campus by transforming unused spaces into vibrant green zones. Future plans include expanding the system, engaging the local community in educational programs, and exploring research opportunities to further advance ecological stewardship and contribute to SDG 14.

Navajyothi College of Teacher Education for Women, Olarikara, is actively engaged in promoting sustainable development goals within its campus. As part of our commitment to Sustainable Development Goal 15 – Life on Earth, a project was initiated to cultivate awareness and conservation efforts among students. On October 4, six African Love Birds were introduced into the college campus. This initiative aims to not only enhance biodiversity within the campus but also to educate students about the importance of preservig wildlife and their habitats. Through hands-on experience in caring for these birds, students will gain valuable insights into the interconnectedness of all living beings and the significance of maintaining a balanced ecosystem. Navajyothi College of Teacher Education for Women is proud to contribute to the global efforts towards achieving Sustainable Development Goal 15, and we are committed to fostering a culture of environmental stewardship and responsibility among our students and the wider community.

Report on endangered plants

        REPORT ON ENDANGERED PLANTS







On August 17, Navajyothi College of Teacher Education for Women, Olarikara, initiated the cultivation of 20 endangered plant species as part of its commitment to Sustainable Development Goal 12: Responsible Consumption and Production. The Endangered plants were collected from Mannuthy. The primary objective of this project is to cultivate endangered plant species to conserve biodiversity and promote sustainable consumption and production practices. By nurturing these plants, the college aims to contribute to environmental conservation efforts and educate students and the community about the importance of preserving endangered species. The cultivation of endangered plant species at Navajyothi College of Teacher Education for Women, Olarikara, exemplifies the institution’s commitment to sustainable development and environmental stewardship. By undertaking this project, the college is not only contributing to the conservation of biodiversity but also empowering students and the community to become responsible stewards of the environment. This initiative serves as a model for other educational institutions and organizations to follow, demonstrating how small-scale efforts can make a significant impact on global sustainability goals.
