Report on mini aquaponics

 REPORT ON MINI AQUAPONICS

On January 15, 2024, Navajyothi College Olarikara implemented a mini aquaponics system with the aim of fostering aesthetic and eco-friendly values while aligning with Sustainable Development Goal 14: Life Below Water. This initiative integrates aquaculture and hydroponics, housing 50 Tilapia fish (Oreochromis aureusin ) a symbiotic environment with various leafy greens and herbs grown hydroponically. The system not only serves as an educational tool, enhancing understanding of ecological concepts among students and faculty, but also adds aesthetic value to the campus by transforming unused spaces into vibrant green zones. Future plans include expanding the system, engaging the local community in educational programs, and exploring research opportunities to further advance ecological stewardship and contribute to SDG 14.
