The Nature Club of Navajyothi College of Teacher Education for Women Olarikkara organized a programme on 17 December 2025 in observance of Energy Conservation Day. The programme aimed to create awareness among student-teachers about the importance of conserving energy and adopting sustainable practices for a greener future.
The programme was anchored by Aparna M and commenced with a prayer led by Krishnapriya K. M. and Lakshmipriya K. M. invoking a sense of responsibility towards nature. The welcome address was delivered by Malavika K. S. who warmly welcomed the gathering. The prayer was followed by an introduction by Angel Jenson highlighting the significance of energy conservation in daily life.
An engaging quiz competition was organized by the Nature Club and the quiz master was Nandana K. R. who actively involved students and enhanced their awareness of energy-related issues. The programme also included the announcement of results of a photography contest conducted on 9 October 2025 in connection with World Clean-up Day on the theme of pollution showcasing students’ creative engagement with environmental issues.
Prizes were distributed by Vice Principal Rev. Sr. Dr. K. V. Princy. The first prize was awarded to the Natural Science option, second prize to the Malayalam option and the third prize to the Mathematics option. The winner of the photography contest was Mariya Babu (Mathematics option) whose work was appreciated for its creativity and relevance to the theme.
The vote of thanks was delivered by Lakshmi M who expressed heartfelt gratitude to all organizers, participants and faculty members for their support and cooperation. Heartfelt thanks were offered to Shri. Renjith in charge of the Nature Club for his guidance and support. Special regards were also extended to Chelsea Maria and Divya Maria C. J. for their assistance with ICT arrangements and to Nithya Das and Lijitha N. V. for their help with Waves ensuring the smooth conduct of the programme.
The programme brochure was prepared by Andrea Xavier and the presentation was designed by Aneeshya. The session concluded with the National Anthem marking the end of an informative and meaningful programme. The event was successful in instilling awareness and responsibility among student-teachers regarding energy conservation.
