REPORT  

  

  On 13^th March 2024 Wednesday Navajyothi College of Teacher Education For Women Olarikkara, conducted a street play by Nature  Club under the guidance of our principal Sister Dr. Gigi Paul and the club coordinator Sri. Ranjith Sir. Afternoon section all the student teachers and faculties gathered at multipurpose hall for the common program, towards the end of the program showed promo video and Ranjith sir invited everyone to see the street play at3 o clock, students and teachers assembled at Olarikkara center and watched the street play based on the theme of water pollution and disappearence of pure water. The program was conducted by the first year student teachers.The host of the program was Sr Anjana V B from English  option. The welcome speech was given by Ms. Anjana N V of social science option.The street play was named as “Tharu oru ettu vellam”. Our principal Sister Dr. Gigi Paul made a wonderful felicitation and remark about this street play.Through the lines from the poem ‘Paka’ of Murukan kattakada Ms Silpa from Malayalam option expresse real situation of our mother nature. Miss Jisna Jose Alookkaran gave vote of thanks. The street play dispersed by 4. 00. PM.

Report on morning program 2023

     Morning Program (16-08-2023)  

                     REPORT

On 16th August 2023 Wednesday Navajyothi College of Teacher Education For Women Olarikkara, conducted the morning programme by Nature Club under the guidance of our principal Sister Dr. Gigi Paul and the club coordinator Sri. Ranjith Sir. The program was conducted by the first year student teachers in the multipurpose hall from 9:30 a.m.

The host of the program was Ms. Grace Mary of Social Science option. The prayer was sung by Ms. Alina Raphy of Physical Science option. The welcome speech was given by Ms. Keerthana G S of Natural Science option. 

Then a skit was showcase by the student teachers about the importance and conservation of mountains.The skit was named as “Nilampothunna Parvathangal”. Our principal Sister Dr. Gigi Paul made a wonderful remark about this skit and concluded the session by distributing medicinal plants to each options. Ms. Alsha Raisen of English option gave the vote of thanks. The morning assembly was dispersed after the National Anthem by 9:50 am.

Report on microgreens

 

REPORT ON  PROJECT - MICROGREEN

As a part of nature club we initiated a project ' microgreen’  in March . Under the guidance of Mrs.Binitha Chacko, we, six members of nature club selected a new venture microgreen to introduce among all the student teachers of Navajyothi college. Microgreens are the  vegetable greens which  harvested just after the cotyledon leaves have developed with one set of true leaves.  They are used as a nutrition supplement, a visual enhancement, a flavor and a texture enhancement. Our major goal of this venture was to aware the students about the significance of microgreens, make ready them to prepare and utilize it. Instead of soil, we can made this in tissue and news paper.

For a pilot study, we 6 members of club, prepared the microgreens in our own house using green gram. We sowned the seed in three trays which contained soil, tissue paper and news paper. It takes about 5 – 6 days for harvest.

To familiarize about this concept to the students of all department, we prepared the microgreens with green gram in three trays as common in class room on March 13. We got the full support from our teachers. It took one week to grow flourishly. On 21^st March we harvested the microgreens.  Student from each  class  prepared  delicious food for all. It was such an encouraging one and every one actively participated in this activity by taking care  the seedlings at each stage.

From next week onwards , we asked all students of each department to prepare the microgreen in their home individually.  It would also enable them to introduce this concept before everyone’s  family. Using microgreen,  most students prepared varieties of food like salads, curry, methi Paratha etc…  We got valuable comments and support from all students, teachers and principal.

Report on world environmental day

 NAVAJYOTHI COLLEGE OF TEACHER EDUCATION FOR WOMEN, OLARIKKARA

WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY CELEBRATION

Navajyothi college of teacher education for women, Olarikkara celebrated the world environment day on 8 th of June 2023.IQAC in collaboration with Nature Club, second year student-teachers of Natural Science option organised the programme. The programme was conducted in the Multipurpose hall at 09:30 a.m. The theme of world environment day of the year was ‘Beat Plastic Pollution’. The programme begun with a prayer. The announcement was done by Aswathy V.S. She introduced about the importance of celebrating the day to the audience. Riya Sajan further welcomed the gathering. A video presentation was done by Sanu Francis focusing on the history of celebration of the first world Environment day, the need and importance of the day, how the destructing environment can effect the future generation and the need to avoid the plastic- the most dangerous pollutant. The best replacements for the plastic were also suggested. A role play named ‘ALTERNATIVES’ was presented. The role play showed the methods to beat plastic in our day-to-day life. The vote of thanks was delivered by Soniya K Vincent. In connection with the world environment day a ZERO PLASTIC WEEK was also organised. Household plastic wastes were collected from teachers and first year and second year student teachers. Collection bins were placed for the same. The trashes were collected from 06 th to 12 th of June 2023. The collected wastes were further handed over to the waste recyclers.
